manager login issues (2.08)

    2.08 on Apache w/ cpanel, php 5.1.2.4

    Login takes upwards of 1.5 minutes, and fails about 40% of the time.
    Fatal error: Call to a member function get() on a non-object in /home/username/public_html/manager/controllers/default/header.php on line 85


    Really have no idea where to look. I’m wondering if there’s any advice on where to start looking for what might be wrong with what I’m doing. Evo works fine on same server, so...?

      a bit more info:

      server uses FastCGI

      Also, now that I have turned off the newsfeed, it seems to load a lot faster.

      But, it seems like something I would rather fix than work around. Just not sure what I’m doing wrong. i do know that my grasp of folder and file permissions for MODx is not all it might be.

        just for reference for those who may find this by search:

        After I turned off the MODx newsfeed and MODx security feed in settings, I don’t have these problems anymore. It loads nice and quick.

        I don’t want to put [SOLVED] in this title because it’s not a solution, it’s a workaround.
        Maybe a mod can tell me if I should or not...?
