I am wondering if Template Variables can do more than they seem on the surface.

Is it possible to have a template variable called downloads which is essentially a file browser to add a pdf to a page. Beside the file browser there is a link/checkbox/something that says ’add another file’. Clicking this will create another file browser below etc etc. On saving, this would still be one template variable but stored as document1.pdf|document2.pdf|document3.pdf etc (in the same way that checkbox values are stored).

I know an easy answer to the scenario I’ve give is to use a Rich text box instead. My question isn’t for this particular problem but whether template variables can be pulled in directions to do non-standard stuff.

If anyone has done anything similar it’d be good to see them.
