    Hi, I’m just new here.

I’ve not tried modx before, because the last time I tried I couldn’t get it to work on my xampp. But I’m quite curious and am considering to use it as a tool for web development.

Here are some of my questions:
    1. Can ModxCMS work without apache’s mod_url and php’s pdo enabled, because the company I worked it disabled it for "security reasons"

    2. How does it differ with MVC framework aside from having a CMS? I’m currently using codeigniter, do you think that the learning curve will be easy?

    3. Will it be difficult to create two kinds of cart- one for shopping and one for inquiry in ModxCMS?

    Thanks for the advance reply

1 - You can use MODx Evolution who does not need mod_url and PDO (Err, i’m not sure about mod_url, you’ll have to test or wait for another one confirmation)
On the other hand, MODx Revolution use PDO so i guess it’s a no go gieven your requirement.

But, i find it surprising that your company deactivate PDO for "security reason".
Unless they’re using an old buggy driver, PDO is known to be safer then mysqli.

2 - MODx Evolution is not a much POO oriented than Revolution and therefore less advanced than codeigniter on that matter.
But you can use codeigniter along side MODx if needed.

3 - You can build whatever you want with MODx, it only depend on your PHP skills.

        Thanks for the immediate reply.

But I’m really hoping that I could get a more powerful tool than codeigniter, so I was really hoping it could be modx, because I can’t get other MVC’s out there due to the company refusing mod_url and pdo.

But strange, isn’t mod_url and pdo supposed to help in security?

You just mentioned that modx could be used together with codeigniter. How do I do that? What’s the pros and cons to this?

        Thanks again.
