    Hi Guys,

Just want to be sure with what seems to be obvious.

I heard that the Revolution version of ModX eliminates the 5000 document limit. Does that mean that there is simply no limit to the number of docs I can have with a ModX site? Or is there still a limit - except it’s higher? If there is still a limit, does anybody know how much it is?

There’s been a lot of talk about this... but there are always limits: your server would need a certain amount of memory and CPU to handle a large site. I’m trying to figure out a scientific way to benchmark this, but here’s an example. Say you’ve got a product catalog with 100,000 different products. You could put each product on its own Resource (i.e. page), but this taxes the manager... as a rule of thumb, the manager slows down if you have 500 or 1000 resources in a particular folder. So what if you instead had ONE Resource? e.g. /my_product and then you specified the product using a $_GET variable, e.g. /my_product?sku=123 then you used a PHP Snippet to lookup that particular product.

Both approaches will display your data, but they may have very different requirements on the MODx manager. Know what I mean?

The takeaway is that the larger your site gets, the more you have to think about your resources and how they are handled. Benchmarking details would be valuable here, but I haven’t seen many yet.
