I know the book since I did a tech review of it (I think Sottwell also did a review). It is for beginners and follows a tutorial style with the objective to build a blog, but has subsequent chapters that are a little more advanced. There is some interesting stuff (there is bound to be something in MODx that you don’t know). I would not recommend it for you since you are clearly an advanced user, but it is a good book for a beginner/early intermediate user. I would have preferred a more thorough view of MODx rather than simply instructions. However, it is an OK first book and should help make MODx more popular.
It has been a while since I reviewed it so my views are based on the raw material, i have not yet seen the finished book.
