phpbb MODx 1.2.2

Seems phpbb are using the name MODx for one of their products?

I’ve been aware of this for quite some time, actually. MODx started in 2004 so we definitely have precedent on it’s usage being that phpBB announced MODx after several months work in 2006: http://www.phpbb.com/community/viewtopic.php?f=14&t=382141

It would not be a good thing to get into an awkward situation with another OS project so we’d like to not stir the pot publicly for now, or anytime in the future for that matter.

No, but a polite note pointing out that we were there first and the possible confusion it could cause might not be out of order (if you haven’t done it already).

That is a step I will be taking in the future, but now is not the appropriate time to potentially ruffle any feathers.

Looks like they’re going to heavily market AutoMOD now so that’s a good thing. Changing the name of what gets installed by AutoMOD shouldn’t be remotely as big a deal.

I hear you. I just thought that the more entrenched the name becomes there over time, the more reluctant they’ll be to change it.
