Anybody know about the Packt Book?

They did not get in touch with the team about this book??? Strange...

I’m happy to see a book about modx, it does give the signal that modx is popular. But do you think people will buy a book like this to start using modx?

@MediaGuy, It is possible that they contacted Ryan. I know that Packt wanted one but didn’t know they found an author. Never heard of him. Be interesting to see advances.

Is there a technical advisor or review?

I did a technical review but not sure if I will get any credits. They contacted me by PM sometime earlier this year.

I have no idea who the author is, I only communicated directly in my reviews with the project manager and had no contact with the author.

As stated in the overview it is basically a tutorial to build a website/blog with modx all the way from the installation to the final touches. It should be technically accurate (if they payed attention to my reviews since there were a few errors ), although I did not agree with the methods in some cases and had to control myself to limit my observations to technical issues. I am interested in seeing the outcome since I had lots of notes in my reviews and hope that they used them (never saw a version after my reviews). Overall I was a little disappointed since I was hoping the the first modx book (well second if you count the Japanese one) would be more significant (specially if my name will be attached to it). But it is a good beginners guide and will do some good to spread the modx word. In the process of reviewing I actually learned quite a few things and was forced to look into a few snippets that I had never used. It will be very helpful for beginners.  I would love to see a mid/advanced level book for modx since this is where you get into the real power of modx IMO, but I am a mid level used so it makes sense that I would find the beginner stuff less stimulating. 

One thing the book promised that is cool, but I did not see yet, is a complete index with the parameters for the standard snippets

As for the MODx vs. modx, I told them about the rebranding but they did not pay much attention (sometimes it was like talking to the wall). The MODx is wide spread, I have several people I communicate with who use MODx no matter what I tell them. It took me a little while to make the switch but now I am lowercase all the way 

They did contact the team but being able to commit time as an author is difficult. I’m very glad as well to see any books!

I also was a technical reviewer. I have no idea who the author is. They have an tentative release date of sometime toward the end of January.

They had contacted me a year or so ago about writing a book, but then decided we didn’t have a big enough user base to make it interesting enough for them. So at least this means we’re coming up nicely.

That is great. I was hoping that there would be more reviewers but they kept me in the dark. Now I feel less pressure to have gotten things technically accurate

I did not see your reviews in my copies, I wonder how they managed the process. Have you seen a final version?
