TinyMCE Wiki How to : turn tinyMCE into an Ajax editor

I don’t mean to add to Jeff’s plate, and that for future reference but as I browsed the TinyMCE wiki I came accross this article :

I am not qualified enough to judge but it doesn’t seem too heavy and it could improve usability... what do you think ?

Any feature additions sound like a great addition after 096

097 does things a bit different...so technically we’ve already made TinyMCE an AJAX editor, since it’s being sent through an AJAX request. Basically what happens now is that on the form submit (when the user clicks the save button at the top of the content page), the MODx code calls the TinyMCE code to run its cleanup, then serializes the form with the content from the RTE included, and sends it via an AJAX request. So technically we’re already doing that exact thing - but without modifying any TinyMCE code.

I think I’ve been able to write some code that will allow for different RTEs to handle this situation, since each RTE will need to have a way of accessing its content without using its onSubmitForm caller or such.

Good find though. If you can find one for FCK, then please, do share.

@Ryan: Yeah I know, it’s not time to add things to the mix, the plate is full already !
Of course every feature addition should still be carefully weighted for clutter vs usefulness...
