Will next major version require extensive re-working?

I’ve contacted by some dev, and he asked me this question:

My main concern is that the next major version, when it comes out, will require extensive re-working of anything built with previous versions. Can you tell me anything about this?

So, what should I answer him?

The next major version to come out is 0.9.6. The answer is No major rework needed.

When it’s available is a better question. We have no firm horizon. There is the possibility that PHx will need significant reworking as it’s presently dead in 0.9.7 alpha, and 097 has not been widely tested. The goal is that there will not be significant rework needed, but there’s no promises.
