Ok...got to get on my soapbox and do a quick rant and whine about a few things...
Just hoped onto the forum to take a peek at all my unread posts and see what’s new. For starters, one of whines about the forums is that it resets my unread posts lists at random...thus I’m forced to have to go through about 10-20 different sections of the forums just to find all the unread posts I might need to read. But that’s not the kicker...
So, after finding out that the unread posts list was (again!) reset on me, I attempted to do a quick search of anything related to TinyMCE in hopes of getting a nice, tidy list of posts dealing with it. Take a look at the attached picture. Notice anything weird about it? For starters...umm...."titmice"? That’s funny! But what’s with the results? I know for a fact that there are posts on the forums that are newer than 2005!
Not so sure about SMF anymore. Question is...is there any upgrades or alternative forum apps that would work better?

Nope. Dealing with the 3000+ forum spammers is of prime importance, and I don’t have time to relearn a new forum system. I delete roughly 10 accounts per day for new/probable forum spammers.
Would a new RTE and File Manager subtopic to better keep it more organized for you?
The SMF forum search is horrendous, and not worth using honestly. Maybe the latest 1.1.2 release is better, but that’s another issue entirely (finding the time to update our custom theme).

BTW: I waived the max results limits.

Yeah, let’s get a RTE and File Manager subtopic going. I could use it for tutorials, general Q&A, and other stuff....especially since we’ve got alot coming down the pipeline for these things.
I’d like to see the latest version integrated if it’s a compelling upgrade. Finding information about various things on the forum is a pretty hot topic to me and very important. If we can improve how the forum works by just tweaking some settings and/or upgrading the forum then we should definitely look into it. Sucks to have to spend time upgrading the theme...but how much of it has really changed? Just curious.
