Ryan's new forum signature :)

Just to say I think this somewhat lengthy signature is a great idea :

For those who skipped it (hardly possible ) :

MODx is ideal for web developers and XHTML/CSS designers that need a customizable web app framework they can confidently turn over to their ultimate end-users for day-to-day site maintenance. We’ll move towards less technically-experienced users – and create better documentation – in the future, but we have to focus on getting it right first! "Newbies" are very welcome here and we love them in our community. But please read the wiki, Google search the forums, learn a bit of PHP and CSS, examine the parameters in the snippet code, and then fire away with questions.

It will actually do a lot to clarify MODx positionning and get recurring inquistive threads down to a lower number, and hopefully get the message accross Plus, it will probably have a beneficial side effect SEO wise

Ryan, if you don’t mind, I’d like to translate this in french and add this to my own signature. French moderators will keep on harboring the signature manufactured by Zi, with the useful links while I’ll waive this "communiqué" / statements of sorts and given my forum acitivity level, this should make a nice banner

This signature will save probably 15-30 minutes a day of responses to forum posts. My new response will simply be:

Or maybe i’ll stick to the dutch sig only in the future.

Well I didn’t put both language as it really takes a bit of space

I manage to get the french version at 4 lines which was no small feat given english is much concise than french...
I also was specially attentive at the choice of words. Given I post quite a bit, this might help french SEO for selected terms.

I don’t see how having the same terms competing on multiple pages helps SEO.

Well don’t occurences of the same associated words enter the search engine’s calculations ?

I mean having MODx associated with "framework de gestion de contenu" (in english, content management framework) won’t help SEO at all (not that it was the primary goal but I thought it would help) ?

To be fair, it probably depends on the search engine. I tend to think in terms of pages rather than sites.

If you had "framework de gestion de contenu" as link text, that would associate that text with the page you’re linking to, but having the text on thousands of forum pages is just noise - and the pages with this on aren’t necessarily the ones you want people to find.
