Additional Events?

I know there’s going to be a new event added in for the stats to go in, but there are potentially other useful event hooks to add in.

For example, there’s recently been call for onBeforeManagerPageInit

Would it be a useful exercise to ask our plugin writers what other event hooks would make their life easier?

Thanks for bringing this up Paul (I was headed here for the very same reason in fact). This would give us the ability to redirect users to the front-end automatically, and combined with turning off the manager link and some careful template building, a pretty good way to keep content editors away from the potentially overwhelming manager.

+1 from me for interim but -1 from me overall -- at least, this event will not be necessary in the next-generation system, since the only difference between front-end and manager is the context and/or security of the pages.

But the next generation is not here and this is a consistently requested feature from lots of folks.

If there are to be no *Manager* events in 1.0, then I hereby introduce a vote for OnBeforeWebPageInit to ensure that the available manager and web page parser events are kept in sync ready for future merger.

But that doesn’t really apply to MODx as it functions now, as the manger really doesn’t use the document parser.

And 1.0 is not based off the 0.9.x codebase at all so its inner workings are vastly different.

1.0 is very much taking previous versions into account.

I am referring to the code, not the ideas contained within in.
