Do you think it’s a good idea for all US citizen or everybody who stay in US to meet together sometime before May 2006? I’m interested to meet all the core users to talk more about the roadmap, vision, future, planning, and etc.
I’ll be gone this upcoming may, back to my lovely home country in Indonesia, and I’m shooting to have my IT company start by this july 2006. If I can see a benefit of leveraging MODx system, I wouldn’t mind taking 10-20% of my company’s time to be spent building an open source extension for MODx. I know 10-20% is not big, but if I have 2-3 programmers work in house and they all have the same or better skillset than me, I think 10-20% will be good enough to contribute back to the system. In fact, if I can see any profit feasible to be made by having partnership with MODx foundation, I wouldn’t mind to be onboard with the plan that core users come up with. If I’m making money out of MODx, then I want the core users to be able to make profit as well, to ensure the development of MODx/Tattoo being made right and on schedule.
Currently, I’m still struggling in making decision. It’s either to use MODx as the whole framework to support all other system, or I will create my own framework to handle integration between MODx and some other open source technology. The only reason that causing me to think like this, is because of the current user based system that we have. Simple dynamic site pages doesn’t need a good user based system, but building a really huge community base framework needs a well organized and powerful user management system, which I don’t think MODx current system is capable of doing that. But I know MODx is growing, and we’re about to hit v0.9.5 with a lot of improvement and so on, and that’s why I would like to know the plan for the next few releases and the ongoing plan for the continuity of the project.
I know that some of you guys are expert in your own area, and I need those experience and skill to help me learn more in that specific area that I’m lacking of. Any chance to meet with you guys will be great. I would love to involve more and hangout with all this cool folks from MODx. Btw, I’m shooting to be able to meet with you guys in any open source expo next year. So lets wish for the best.

, I’d sure as hell do my best to make a meeting of the MODx team ... it’d be great to put faces to names and have a good old chat about MODx and generally get to know people.
