Infant CMS project

I ran across this today. It has a long way to go, but it also has some very nice features, like a built-in document repository, and an approval system.

On investigating it more, it doesn’t look like it’ll be going anywhere. The original developer seems to have abandoned it (he did put it up on Sourceforge), but there hasn’t been any activity since last October. Pity; it has a lot of potential.

Yea, I follow it for several months and he call for participation from users but not too many people volunteer and look like the development has stopped.

I have not seen any new release since 10/05.

One of the nice feature that it has I think is the meta data. He tried to do too much by himself. He has CMS, Blog, Nexus, and Calendar. His road map is very confusing to say the least!

PS: the forum are still very active though.

I tried it a while ago : I agree with you there. What lead me to let it down was the absence of progress... a real shame you’re right...

I guess we got lucky with the dev team that took up MODx.

The reason, I guess he tried to handle toooo much at same time. CMS / Blog / Community script / Calendar, 4 things at once ... grr..

I recently stumbled over CMS Made Simple which looks quite similar to MODx (regarding functionality). Could be worth to check from time to time to see it’s progress... It has some features that would be nice to have them in MODx, I think. ;-)

Agreed. I have been following CMS Made Simple for quite some time now, before my MODx time. In fact, the logic is a little similar but this is clearly not a framework. CMS Made Simple is simpler and in my opinion less mature than MODx and most certainly less powerful. But it’s an easier tool to learn.

To me MODx, Textpattern and CMS Made Simple are the only CMSes that allow for real control in terms of design... so yes, it’s a nice tool and I have my eye on them. I have been testing every release and checking out their addons. The community is strenghtening but the developpement pace and ambition is not the same as ours (but then, which OS CMS project is... makes me think : when will we really use our SourceForge page. We could get lots of visibility from our activity percentile alone !)
