Dang! That is a great idea! Now just to figure out how to make one for MODx! Anybody?

Well threre will be one mayor obsticle:
how do you write to a cd? its not posible, what I mean is when you want to edit a page then when saving, things are saved to the database, the database is on the cd.

So a live cd would work only for viewing but no editing I think

or the database needs to be put on a ramdrive that would do the trick.

how does knoppix saves stuff? maybe on a reserverd pard of the harddrive?

Ubuntu is pretty good and handles everything in the ramdrive (no need for special wrappers, etc) but its alot slower booting that the rest of the LiveCDs. Knoppix is the fastest in my experience.

Some of them use a ramdrive, some have an option of using a part of the hard drive. It might be worth while to download the above mentioned free one and see what it does.

Good idea but I have one trick that always makes an impression : a webserver on USB stick !

EasyPHP (server is down at the moment) is able to do it since version 1.8, and there was a french project named MovAmp. Don’t know about XAMPP or WAMP...

I can see this avenue work for our marketing, but it won’t be suiteable for production website. By the time we have Tattoo, I believe we will geared toward enterprise market, which our competitor will be the kind of hard core CMF/CMS, which Joomla and the rest of Open Source CMS is not aiming on that area yet. If that’s what’s gonna happened, then this Live CD will be suiteable for this kind of thing, to demonstrate the system during presentation.

Of course it’s not suitable for production! It’s only for demo, and maybe local development. But it’s also a way to raise a bit of cash, if anybody wants to buy the CD instead of downloading it, which some people will.

I would hold off on trying to make any semblance of a sound judgement, plan or prediction about Tattoo ... it’s just simply way too early. By far it will benefit everyone to keep foucsed on MODx until Jason makes more progress.

Sure Ryan, in fact I’m stating myself, "If that’s what’s gonna happened, then...".
I might back of a little bit about Tattoo, concerning that I’ve been making a lot of ruckuss lately by stating my personal opinion regarding Tattoo.

That’s one of the problem being a geek and socialize person, it’s because whenever I found something really interesting related to IT, then I would like the whole world know about it, lol, even when I ended up making a wrong presumption.

Btw, the Live CD is a really nice idea. I would love to have one, due to the fact if the client able to test it without sacrificing the needs to install the whole server system on their computer. It sounds really exciting!
