Snippets mods : shouldn't those be integrated into the original snippet ?

I know there are many things cooking but it would be nice to have this settled this month if possible...

That’s the goal... a new release/a new repository.

I think we need to have a new release that fix only several bugs reports so all of us can use the new release on our production site. So far the problem right now that I’m having is the inability to add javascript and css without hacking into the core. So I think having this to be fixed on the next release will be great. Considering the next release 0.9.5, I think that will be the big major release that will include overhauling manager interface, user manageemnt system, API and etc.

While doing that, I think having a new repository will be awesome as well. I have public SVN access that I’m planning to use for most of my MODx site, but I can’t think of an easy way to connect SVN with MODx in easy way. Maybe providing a simple link to the repository will do just fine, while the official release of each resurces will posted up on MODx site.

Any thought on this?

lol, that’s way too technical Jason.
Sometime manager doesn’t have to know how to use the program, all they need to know is how it will affect h development, as well knowing the best practices in using SVN. For beginner to SVN or versionning system, it willhelp them get a grasp on how the whole implementation bein applied to real world, so after knowing the whole big picture on how SVN being used, then it will come the time to learn and practice in implementing it to their own development process

Well anyway, I really like SVN though, even though yesterday, eclipse crash on me , but luckily I have the backup data everytime I save it. That’s the cool thing of eclipse I believe, it will keep revision history by itself, am I right?

Yes, Eclipse will keep a revision history. I’m not using it for SVN but it keeps a local history for me. It’s proving invaluable

@Jason: Nice link, I need to read up on SVN - that seems pretty comprehensive!

I am bumping this, since there are new major snippet mods, namely HyperFlexSearchForm, that brings this subject to my attention again...

Of course we’ll have to wait the release to take care of this but we desperately need to make sure some essential snippet don’t "fork" into 10 different versions : for instance combining livesearch with HyperFlexSearchForm would be IMHO quite necessary. Should even ship with MODx...
