Add-ons

We should probably have a note on how to use the WTF to install 0.9.7 add-ons, either on the download site or as a readme.txt file with each item.

BTW, what *are* we supposed to do with the WTF zip files to get the add-ons installed

In the release announcement, it says at the bottom how to install transport packages, and refers to this Confluence page:

It took me a little effort to figure it out (I actually needed to logout then back in to get the snippets to show up after installing the package) but the packages are a vary cool feature. However I cant get wayfinder to work at all. I got Ditto working (needed to edit the default template to get the links to work). And I had no problem getting custom snippets to work, but wayfinder will not cooperate.

I’m probably not the only person dense (or vision impaired) enough to miss that message on the way to the download page. When new users are looking to download something and see a link that says "download" they often click it right away without seeing the rest of the page. We should probably duplicate that message on each of the download pages (and perhaps also in a readme.txt and/or source code of the packages).

When it comes to making life easy for users, there’s no such thing as overkill, IMHO.

Good point - do these changes help?

I’m going to change the downloads/ page later today to be individual pages for each download subfolder (i.e. core, add-ons, extensions). Then we can include whatever links and text we need to on each easily.

They do, although I think it’s a little harder to find the actual packages now, especially the add-ons.

I imagine things are still being organized and styled, but I thought I’d mention that the "Download Now" button seems wrong since it’s just a link to another page and buttons usually initiate some specific action (like downloading).

It might work better for users if we just put the three links (add-ons, core, extensions) on that page under the logo and remove the "Download Now" button.
