I am new to modx; I am trying to change the css for the wayfinder menu, but I don’t know where it’s located. I assume it’s something obvious, but I just don’t know where. Can someone put me in the right direction?

Do you mean for the default template?

As other wise you just add what ever styles to your own CSS to control the UL that contains your menu.

Yes. I was trying to follow the instructions on the almost complete guide; I got to the point where you add css to your ul, but it doesn’t see where I do that. can I upload a css file and attach it to the ul?

Read the almost complete guide it shows you how to style ul and li as well as create your tpl chunks.

If you’re using Revo then make sure to change the tag syntax accordingly in order for it to work.
