Automatic joining of css and js for caching and faster load times

If anyone has an example of this technique working on a MODx site, could you please post a link?

I had started adopting the "stylesheets at the top/ javascript at the bottom" practice based on points #5 and #6 here:

.. and I’ve liked it so far. Anyone familiar with the aciddrop code think that this approach could be integrated?
Any detractors from Steve Souders’ (Yahoo) thinking?
