Some 0.9.7a Screenshots

Hey guys,

So we’re workin’ hard on getting 0.9.7a working enough to get you all a very early copy to play around on. We’ve got some styling issues and install issues to work on, but it should be ready (enough) soon.

In the meantime, here’s some screenies of 0.9.7 in action...and the realistic thing is, most of the improvements in 0.9.7 (xPDO, Smarty, connectors, Contexts) we can’t even show in screenshots. But here’s what we’ve got.

One of the things I wouldn’t mind experimenting with is having a few choices on how the menu at the top can appear. One way would be to have something that is similar to how it is now...but have the submenu options appear in a sort of "ribbon" style. We could attach an event to it that would allow for plugins to be created that could override the functionality. Could be interesting for devs who want to create their own themes.

I like that a document’s TVs and Access Permissions are in their own tabs now. Has the META tags code finally been beaten into submission? I’m also curious about that Profile menu...

Any chance with see features akin to the HideManager Fields Plugin bundled into this new manager (e.g ability to select which document settings are displayed upon editing for each role -> dumb down UI in short terms) ?

Ah but I am getting ahead of myself, I alredy am amazed at the improvement (drag and drop in the tree, in context editable fields...) : I noticed two tabs at the bottom of the document tree, "Document view" and "File view"... what are those exactly ?

Docs = the current tree

File = file manager ... much improved (still in planning)

Yeah...hate to admit it but Microsoft may have something there. We could do something similar that would enable us to have context-sensitive options appear...even so far as to have menu drop-downs for certain items. Being that the submenu of any tab would be its own div, it sure would break open the menu possibilities instead of being stuck in one paradigm.
