I’ve started this thread here so we can document and discuss any changes.
OK, I’ve made a couple of minor changes:
Snippet: FirstChildRedicrect renamed to FirstChildRedirect. Doesn’t appear to be used in content.
guildlines > guidelines in Design (p32)
Priveleges > Privileges in Request an Account (5)
The above were clearly wrong, there’s no decision to be made, so I just did it.
Lets move on to a more contentious issue.
QuickStart Guide
I hate the QuickStart Guide section. It is badly named, badly focused and quite simply useless. The only thing going for it is that it looks nice having 4 pages fly out on the menu.
It is wrong (and slightly embarrasing) to "big up" Script.aculo.us when it is headed for the chop.
Obviously, a page about DropMenu needs to go.
Whilst QuickEdit is worth introducing, repeating the exact same text as the Module screen is pointless.
"Some other neat things done with this site" is puzzling and somewhat random in what it draws attention to.
So what do I suggest? Well, I suggest that the focus changes to introducing the features rather than documentation. By the time most people need to refer to documentation, they’ve ditched the default content anyway!
Rename QuickStart Guide (15) to "Key Features"
Replace Script.aculo.us (16) to "Ajax" - marketing text, list of core Ajax features (bundled Script.aculo.us libraries; ability to add includes to header as required), snippets powered by Ajax, overview of Ajax features showcased in site, possibly links to example MODx sites with Ajax features.
Replace DropMenu (22) with "Flexible Menus and Lists" - overview of many uses of Ditto and Wayfinder, and the fact that they draw on the core structure; reminder that a custom snippet could be written.
Replace QuickEdit (14) with "Content Management" - fact that can be managed by front-end or backend, overview of QuickEdit, overview of skinnable Manager (mentioning that modules can be added), reminder that custom data entry can be written using API.
Replace "Other Tricks (24)" with "Extendable by design" - link to Repo, overview of the other snippets etc used in the default site, fact that plugins mean no more core-hacking.
Arrange them in menu: 14, 22, 16, 24.
Any thoughts on these changes?
EDIT: Have changed idea on Other Tricks (previously I suggested dropping it).
Some rough changes made. I need to tweak the tense of the menutitles, the priority was to make them fit in.
Oh, and I made the template change that Banzai suggested.
I think should be nice have some categories started with the new resources.

Looks good to me. In fact, I love it. I definitely agree that we need to use the category feature. I was tempted to just have "Core" and "Sample Content", but grouping by purpose makes it easier for newbies to figure out what things do.
