Category Support in the manager

I have completed some preliminary work for adding category support into the manager for all resources (snippets/plugins/modules/tvars/templates/chunks).

I have commited this all to my branch, but thought I would put the code out here for testing. I still need to add some kind of admin area to delete/change categories.

I created this with the latest version of 0.9.5 from svn, so if you test you will probably want to do the same.

Has anyone had a chance to give this a try? I would love to hear what anyone thinks about it or any changes that should be made.

Kyle... which branch in SVN did you make this off of? I’ve got multiple local installs and would be glad to test it immediately.

I did it off of the main trunk from last week, I’m not sure which revision though (I think it was 1239).

I have been working through adding category support to all of the sections under manage resources, so while you are viewing chunks, snippets, etc.. you will see things grouped in the categories.

I have all of the tabs working except for template variables and thought I would pose a question before making changes to it. Currently it uses the dataset pager to limit the number of tvars per page to 20. With the category support is this still necessary? I think I would prefer to have them all on one page, but I’m sure there was a reason for pagination at some point. It would also make the updates for categories much easier.

So what do you think???

I agree with you Kyle... let’s let them all show up at the same time.

I agree with you that categories make pagination un-necessary.
I say drop the 20 TV and pagination thing, anyway that would mess the whole categories concept...
