[Resolved] Document duplicating

There is a problem in duplicating document or even complete document tree’s :http://modxcms.com/bugs/task/253

This problem exist aready from the first release, I know I had to come with this before but I am not realy good in explayning this problem.

When duplicating document tree’s whit document that have tv’s then some documents get the wrong tv content. ore somtimes even get 2 sets of the same tv’s assigned.

did any one else got this problem?

I use this copying a tree a lot when working on multilangual sites.
first I make a root foldr in that folder all the document in dutch and the when the site is finished i duplicate the tree and fill the document with english and other languages.
but now I need like 4 hours or more extra to reorganice my images (in tv’s) that are in the wrong document.

If somone likes to have a go in testing this I have a site running that you can use to test this.
please do not delete existing documents but try to duplicate a tree and try editing them and compare the copy with the original, and you will see.

I duplicated a tree for testing and when you go to Duplacate of Nederlands->Touchscreens->Toepassingen->Medisch and edit the page you will get this and more error messages:

What version of MySQL are you using?

I am using PHP Version 4.3.10
and mysql Client API version 3.23.58

and tested with the same results on another machine running:
PHP Version 4.3.2
and mysql Client API version 3.23.58

I think there could be a bug in the section that handles the MySQL 3.23 DB portion of the duplicate document processor. I think MySQL 4+ supports INSERT INTO SELECT while MySQL 3.23 does not.

Can you try it on a machine with MySQL 4 or higher?

no I do not have somthing running like that, but could it be made compatible? I think I am not the only one running this version of SQL.

Is there any change that this bug will be fixed?
I asked my Host to update but they wait for plesk to come with updates for mysql I am surley not thr only one using a server running plesk.

I am working on a site that holds 400 pages per language so I am a bit worried when I get to that point that I need to copy the whole thing for 3 other languages.

I realy hope that there is an option to have it work correctly with my version of mysql.

Dimmy, I’ve seen double-TV duplication on a MySQL 4.x server actually now that you mention it. There indeed is a bug. Is this filed in the bug tracker?

I got the hostprofider to update mysql nextweek so then I will test it on mysql 4.11 and see if this error is still there.

Ok the udate was sucsesfull but the bug stays.

I duplicated "nederlands" again and I get exectly the same results.

I now use " mysql Ver 14.7 Distrib 4.1.15, for pc-linux-gnu (i686) " thats what mysql on the comandline says but when i look at php info it still say’s: "mysql Client API version 3.23.58 "
I have restarted httpd and mysqld but the phpinfo stay’s the same.

where does the phpinfo gets his information? or is there another service that needs to be restarted?
