0.9.5 anyone ??

I’ve been a bit distracted with work on XPDO and MODx 1.0, as well as some related client work, but I just installed the latest trunk from SVN and a couple things stick out:

• The initial login screen is fubar’d -- looks like it’s just not styled properly.
• The site doesn’t work unless I disabled the slimstat plugin

Can someone please look into correcting the styling on the default manager theme for the login page? I’m taking care of the slimstat plugin issue, and am in the process of testing the removal of all things native stats-related.

What else do we really have to get into 0.9.5, because we need to polish this up and get it out so we can turn our attentions to the future code. Now, I suspect we’ll end up maintaining the 0.9.x series for quite a while, even following 1.0 release, because some of the changes will potentially alienate a few users¹ and I see no reason why bug fix and even new feature releases in the 0.9.x line can’t continue.


¹ That said, I am working on a way to help prepare all 0.9.5 adopters for the jump to 1.0. (more on this in a thread to follow soon)

I know you had reservations when this bug was first raised, but I’ve tested Wendy’s last fix inside and out and it does fix the problem of using regClientStartupScript in uncached snippets on uncached pages.

It’d be great to get this included in the next release

That’s Raymond’s task; I’ll wait for his input -- I added my comments, but I don’t use this functionality enough to understand it, and so I don’t want to make the decision here. If someone has it tested and is comfortable with the result, I’ll be glad to merge it in.

I think I should have a solution for this. Will have to check it out later.

What’s the status on the styling issues inside the trunk. The last time I check it was broken. Any updates available?

Which styling issues are you talking about? The initial default state on install never adjusted the db prefernces so it’s not quite right and needs to be fixed.

He means the login page for the default manager style. It’s still FUBAR, and updates will not affect users who have specified which manager theme to use already. The default login page needs to be fixed or the default style replaced with one that does work (i.e. using the same id as the current default manager style).

Ok for this release I’m going to try and see if I can move forward some of the features planned for GreenCore into 0.9.5 and fix some of the outstanding bugs.

Features include:

* Global TVs
* Fix the existing Widgets
* Additional Widgets (plus make it possible to extend widgets using snippets)
* Additional @Bindings
* Remote Snippet Call (RSC) - (native AJAX support if you please)
* Snippet Builder
* Update DBAPI with minor fixes/features
* Update Document Tree

Raymond, are these things you have completed locally? Or just things you wanted to try and tackle before we released 0.9.5? I’m a little unclear as to why you withdrew these features; I mean if they are completed or partially completed (or can be completed fairly quickly), I say get em in there...all these would be great to have. Plus, it seems as if 0.9.5 dev is somewhat stalled, so, perhaps you getting more directly involved with the code again at this point would be the best thing for getting it ready for release. I’m afraid if you don’t it may stay stalled too long, but I’m just generally a worry wart too, so...
