Very odd manager menu result from a same 0.9 build

I installed 0.9 on 2 different site with the exact same build version 0.9 but yet the manager menu show up on a different flavor.

Please see the attach snapshot.

Those are layouts 1 and 4... they’re easy to switch between in the system config screen, 4th or 5th tab I think.

The first layout 1 should always be default. If you can repeat this by installing on a totally new database, please open a bug report. I’ve not been able to reproduce this.

This is at least the 5th times that I do this on http://chanh.blogdns.com and got the same result as the snapshoot show the manager menu still show on the left rather than on top.

I wonder how is this manager menu decides where to land on?

The left layout manager is the default layout... sorry! I did not understand.

Upgrades should maintain your configuration settings for whichever manager menu you choose.

It is not an upgrade it is a fresh install with brand new database. I did exactly the same on two different site and got two different result.

How do you change the manager menu from 1 layout to the other?
I figure it out how to change the layout by using this option: Snap in top menubar layout

But that still does not explain why one install pick one menu from the others!

OH, when I do the switch to different layout the manager keep repeated refresh until I hit a stop and log back into the manger then it seems to work. I think there is some weird bug in there some where!!!

Yes... the refresh issue is known... and weird... You can also kill it by clicking the Home button inside the manager.

I’ve not been able to get the installer to change the manager layout selection despite having done probably 50 installs all total... it’s always defaulted to the first/orininal layout for me!

Does it do this every time and consistently the same (but different between the servers) "chosen" manager layout???

When I installed at demo.opensourcecms.com it defaults to the horizontal layout.

When I installed at chanh.blogdns.com it defaults to the left layout.

These two site is on the same server but different dns server.

It happens every time.

Are you sure someone didn’t play around with demo.opensourcecms.com before you saw it?

The fact that the only place we’ve seen this happen is opensourcecms.com makes me suspicious that it might be due to all of the playing around that goes on there.

Are you using the stock database as it ships for the OSCMS demo install, or is it tweaked in any way?

No, they are the stock 0.9 release that I download and install from. No tweaking has been done by me or anyone.

Which is normal manager menu layout? The horizontal or the left side layout?
