3.3: final preparation and performance

Ok, in Firefox when I click on "hide links" the links disappear, the page refreshes without the links or the menu. If I refresh the page, it comes up with the menu but no links. Ditto for "show links", the links will appear, then the page refreshes with no links and no menu, and if I refresh the page it’s all there. Something wierd with my firefox, I think.

Nope, it’s doing the same thing in Safari. Click on "hide links", the links disappear then everything disappears, hit the back button and links are gone, menu is there. Click on "show links", the links show for a second then everything disappears, hit back button, all is as it should be.

I notice that in the address bar, after I click on hide or show, the address becomes index.html#, that’s when the menu and everything disappears. Could it be that you need a return=false in the javascript somewhere?

Another odd behavior. Apparently my session timed out, because when I went back to Safari and clicked on the Edit Content button, I got the popup with the login page, and when I logged in, the whole backend was in the popup!

And now it appears to be working perfectly. At least in Safari.

Ok, got the same thing in Firefox. Logged in to the back end, opened the front end in a new tab. Menu did the disappearing act. Clicked on the Edit Content button, and got the login page, logged in, got the backend, closed the popup. Now the menu works fine.

Very strange. It shouldn’t be refreshing at all. You’re probbaly right, it probably does need a return false somewhere.

I’ll give it a look and see what I can do.

It goes from "www.pixelhick.com" to "pixelhick.com/index.html#"

But after the odd second login in the popup, it doesn’t refresh any more.

Adam, I have not updated to the absolute latest QE there. Just been focusing on the words ’n a couple of the issues with the NewsPosting/Listing snippets.

Minor proposal for slight menu structure change for 3.3:

Resources Menu -> Manage Resources:

• Page Code (Templates, TVs, Snippets, Chunks)
• Plugins & Modules
• Meta Content
• File Manager

Plugins seems more related to Modules to me than snippets/chunks/etc. The Administration menu is really long, and file manager seems like a good fit with the resources, and makes that menu shorter.

System Configuration could also be renamed simply Settings, as well.

It all sounds good to me.

I assume that Meta Content will include the Meta Keywords tab. Are there plans to include anything else on this page?

The thoughts are for now just to do a minor reorg of existing pages. Getting to the Meta stuff also currently involves some extra (needless) clicks.
