How do you set a already made "folderonly" folder to be a "foleranddocument" folder and back again?

Often I make a site that the client is willing to fill in bij himself but I do most of the time make the menu structure by creating documents
now if I use a puldown menu system most of the time the top level is only used as a titel so i use the "folderonly" folder option but what if I want it to be a document aswhell? without deleting the children and switching folder option off and on again.

and the other way around if by mistake a folder is a "folderanddocument" and I want it to be a "folderonly" with the existing children?
I can not find a way to do that.

In my experience with Etomite/MODx, there has never been a "folderonly" option. Instead, you can work with folders in a couple of ways. First, any document can be turned into a folder at any time simply by marking the ’Folder’ checkbox in the document’s Page Settings. A document will also automatically become a folder if you simply move another document to it as a child page.

Now...what I think you want is a way to have a folder but not one that shows up in the main menu, right? That’s simple...and can be done in two ways now. As with all versions of Etomite/MODx, you can simply ’unpublish’ a folder by unchecking the ’Published’ box in the folder’s Page Settings. This will keep the folder from showing up in the main menu and will keep it from being cached as well. The ’Published’ setting can be changed at any time, thus making it a document as well as a folder.

A new feature in TP3 is a ’Show in menu’ option. For each document/folder, a new checkbox appears in the General Document Settings. By default, the checkbox is marked for any new document or folder. However, let’s say that you still want your folder to be published but don’t want it showing up in the main menu. Unchecking this box with the folder still published will give you just that.

As you can see, it’s just a matter of understanding the subtle nuances and features as well as what each setting does for a given document or folder. Granted, I can understand how this can be a little confusing at first for newcomers. In the future, I’m sure we’ll see more robust documentation that will explain this even further. Then, whenever someone posts a question such as this, we can always say "RTFM!!". LOL! wink

      Hope this helps! laugh

well then you never used the new folder option in the main menu
that wil create a folder that is not a document but has a link on it like this:

        www.mydomain.com/#

take a look at this mod-x site:

        http://www.elisabethschaap.nl/

and look at the menu items they are all "#" only the home one is a page.

now take alook at another mod-x site of mine

        http://www.sunshutters.nl

there the folder "informatie" has a "#"as alink but i need it to be a folder with a page when I edit the folder I do see a editor field and I put content into it but the link is still the same its still acting like a "onlyfolder" folder cause I made that folder with the new folder link in the main menu and the other by the way you explane above

        [offtopic]
another odd thing with this site is that the puldown? (done with phplayermenu) for the first item apears in sight below the page, if somone understands why that is?
I uset that same menu lot of times on other sides with the same snippedconfig.
        [/offtopic]

try it and you will see what I mean

p.s. I am not realy a newcomer made about 25 eto/mod-x sites so far and using eto/modix for over a year now.

            • I’ll see what I can do; I’ve saved the html and sucked up the css files. Almost has to be a problem with the css. Nice site, by the way.
