Forum pages often hang for me with: pagead2.googlesyndication.com … showing in the FF status bar, especially if I hit the "back" button. Reloading the page usually fixes it.
It may be because I’m often using marginal WiFi systems, but it may make some users think MODx is slow.
I get that sort of thing all the time with every site that has any external URLs it has to load; my ISP has a really bad caching proxy that takes forever to fetch stuff and only caches for about 5 minutes. But that’s normal in this part of the world. So I’m used to it, and other than being a little annoyed with sites that have half a dozen different sources for its stuff, I don’t judge the site by my crappy ISP.
For that reason, I seldom use the external (usually Google code) links for JQuery and other libraries, I much prefer to have them available locally.
