Did we buy modxcms.pro ? What about modx-evolution and modx-revolution ?

I just checked if the new .pro domain was taken for modxcms.pro and it would seem not...

Same question for modx.me
Could be a fun domain to have, like Banzai with modx.it

This just raised a question in my mind, which might not be relevant, domain are not eveything but it would seem modx-evolution.com is available and so is modx-revolution.com

Any founder care to buy it or do I get it before it’s taken ?
I am not SEO savvy enough to know if it’s relevant at all but could it help us to have those domains point to modxcms.com or modxcms.com Evolution and Revolution product page ?

I’m hoping modx.com goes by way of the dodo in March ... I’d really like to have that for the project. Someone in the Japanese community registered modx.me I think.

The .pro registry never took off. Splitting SEO efforts to multiple URLs would be a net loss I think, unless we could build very focused sites around those phrases. We can’t even manage to get our own site content rev’d ... so adding more sites to the mix is a bad call I think.

The reason I thought modx.pro was interresting is that I have always had a modx profesionnal’s directory of some sort, possibly a marketplace ? That’s in the longer term of course, you’re right it would be wrong to split efforts.

modx.pro would be interesting for a directory, but we could do the same thing at modxcms.com/pros/

While I am all for such endeavours I am already champing to reduce the clutter in the modxcms.com site and now we’re thinking of adding more urls to the mix? I’d personally like to just buy and redirect URLs. You can deal with google penalties by setting them up in Web Developer tools and not masking or duplicating content.

We don’t need to have domain extensions for everything, I don’t even like using a mix of prefixed subdomains and subdocuments as it is. We need to pick a single url and stick with it. I think that if modx.org and modx.pro and modx.com are/become available they should be aquired and pointed to the main domain. From an SEO perspective (and I am not an expert) I think it is better to hold onto the years of page rank by keeping modxcms.com I think it has SEO benefits of its own as an URL.

I think a policy to obtain similar and related urls and point them to the main or appropriate url makes most sense.

As far as country code TLDs are concerned that could be left to our members to handle and use under a set of simple guidlines since most country TLDs don’t allow for foreign ownership.

Lemme know if this makes sense? OR prove me wrong. I love to be wrong!
