I’d say downloads as well. I think it is clear and I also think that mod_rewrite is your friend in dealing with changes and other future names/subdomains and etc.

I am really keen to help get the content, downloads, and more all moved into the new site so that we can begin shifting focus onto: expanding dev contributions, improving documentation and growing MODx as a whole.

I agree that we should move on and I vote for "downloads" given the latest clarifications !

We might want to then shift this discussion to if the downloads spot should be partitioned and, if so, how.

I know there’s a certain annoyance with what seems to some people like endless discussion and no action, but It’s a lot easier to organize a web site before it exists than after and I think organization is important for MODx’s long-term goals.

Bob, I don’t think that there was any annoyance on my part. I just would hate to see that the site be slowed from an endless discussion on what to call it.

I agree with you on the fact that the overall organization of the download section of the site very important. I am not expert enough to make suggestions here other than as a user of such sites like addons.mozilla.org and the wordpress plugin repository and a few others.

What I don’t like is the tag cloud, and bad search that exists on the current site. A-Z is utterly annoying (unless we Ajaxify it to speed it up). Usually I like to use plugins based on recency, popularity and function. I’d also love to see an author management option that will allow authors to add an update of a resource vs. having to post a new listing and then end up with 2 or 3 or more full entries for versions--some of which are obsolete. As I look through the current resources there are at least 3 DittoCals and 3 Dittos. To me it makes sense that these be withing a single entry but as seperate releases with notes/changelogs and compatibility information.

Again this is all personal and not based on anything but my own experience. I am no IA expert or Usability Expert. My own thought is to ask for thoughts or examples of sites/apps with great download systems.
