As I have said before, I am not really satisfied with what I have achieved the past months with Marketing. I recall Ryan stated recently that we’ll be boosting marketing along with the new release, and I am very much in agreement there. That’s why I am posting here and now. We had nice dynamics rolling when we did the Marketing Plan, the marketing conference was quite rich in clarifying things and setting goals, but I have hardly been able to go forward with it as I should have. Here are a list of items I’d like to adress :

    1. A new member for Marketing ?

Of course there was my moving to a new appartment, and the work I have to do at the new place with is time consuming, not to mention establishing my new born business which has gotten a nice activity boost the past few months. This should improve when I am settled but I still think if I am to be able to complete the marketing plan and keep things rolling in the long run, it might be good to have a full time marketing team member helping out. Don’t be mistaken, Zi is of great help there (kept things rolling when I was not very active, thanks again for that !) but has many things to do on top of marketing. Andreas has great ideas and will help us a LOT, but is not a continuously active member. I’ll keep in touch with him regularly to get some input or work out some new moves.

I had been thinking seventhapex (see his intro here) could be a nice help there, he brought up the Hotscripts thing, and seems to have a good spirit and good ideas. Of course, he is still a fresh recent member but I noticed his post.

I had made a mental note for someone else, but I fail to remember it at the moment sad If you have anyone in mind, or think that it’s not a good idea to have a new marketing team member, please give some feedback smiley

    2. Keep my ears opened and leverage on user’s ideas
The second thing I’d like to do more actively, is test out ideas or give a better attention to user’s suggestion, thanks to the "modxcms.com Discussions and Suggestions" forum. It’s not that much used right now but maybe I could regularly ask for intake or post polls there to keep my head running for new ideas.

If you have other ideas about this, shoot !

    3. High priorities items
Right now, I have listed the following :
    - get things moving with Andreas about his WordPress Theme
    - update the MODx Brief and the article I wrote, pointing out new features, so that we can publish it here and there (list To Be Defined)
    - start some teasing about the next release in various forums (should I do that and if so, how much should be revealed ?)

If you have other suggestions regarding how to market MODx better, I am all ears !

Keep this thread alive. I’m really keen on this in a big way, but more keen on getting 0.9.5 out the door. I’d like to do a soft-launch to the community (rc is a good way to launch without launching, so to speak), and when we get the marketing muscle ready to roll, we’ll do the "official release" consisting of nothing more than updating the version.inc.php file.

        Okay Ryan, duly noted !

I’ll focus my efforts on 0.9.5 testing / translating then, for the moment smiley
