I’ll post this to the mailing list when I have your suggestions, input, addition to this...
Also, I haven’t got the chance to speak to Andreas on IM yet, I’ll probably update this later with his ideas/views smiley

I’ve assigned myself to most tasks, but it might change in the future, if the Marketing team gets reinforced smiley
Some of them I am not qualified for : like doing some promoting on dev’s forum, out of my skill range.

Keep track of where we stand

Set up a follow up on statistics / ranking for : (Assigned to : David. Due : April 30th)

    o Silktide
    o Alexa
    o Opensourcecms (Chanh’s data)
o Number of regular forum users (estimated 1/10th of total number)

Track the competition (Assigned to : David - and whoever wants to help. See this thread )

o Keep an eye on new applications on Opensourcecms et Sourceforge
o Check main competitors progress (Drupal, Joomla!, Code Igniter…), take “pulse” on their forums

Do a monthly report of modxcms.com Stats to check progress
(Assigned to : Whoever has access to them (Zi ?). Due : End of each month )

    Be consistent

    • Write up a Marketing brief for every team member to have a clear view of target (Webdeveloppers, Designers – not end users), positionning (CMF => MODx not in the same league as other CMS), marketing goals (#1 in PHP Application framework at the end of 2006) (Assigned to : David. Due : May 15th. Update : See the Elevator Pitch Draft )

    • Communicate monthly to the team : what has been done the past month, what’s planned for the upcoming month (Assigned to : David. Due : End of each month)
    • Update Software listings : (Assigned to : David. Due : After each release)
o Keep tabs on those listing’s accuracy
o Register to those where we are missing
    • Keep international communities coordinated
o Are we keeping the mini-sites idea, since many local modx website already exist ?
o If not, how do we go about that ?

Buzz the ear of our core target

Submit articles to selected webzines that fit the developpers and designers target
(Assigned to : TBD Due : TBD )

o Try to reach a minimum rhythm of 1 article per month (create the buzz)
o Use network leverage as much as possible (social network of team member)

    Post in selected forums
(Assigned to : David - except for dev’s forum. Due : Continuous )

o Stylegala, sitepoint and the like for webdesigners
    o ? for webdeveloppers
o and less focused, any serious forum dedicated to content management system

    Blog, blog and blog !
(Assigned to : Team Members Due : Continous )

o Shift to second gear the team blog : everyone could post there, so that we reach a nice update frequence and get noticed by the blog world
o Have as many regular users blogging about MODx as possible (Emphasis this on “How to contribute”)
o Podcast interviews of the dev team, but also MODx users
    Show it off !

Set up nice demo videos of MODx to show off flexibility, power, speed of deployment…
(Assigned to : TBD Due : TBD )

    Example :

o Set up a blog in 10 mns
o Transfer your design to MODx in 10 mns
o Transfer from test to production server in 10 mns
o Edit content from the frontend with QuickEdit
    o Etc….

Use the site showcase “best in class” to demonstrate what can be achieved with MODx
(Assigned to : TBD Due : TBD )

o Set up a link to a real Website galery, not simply forum thread
o Put up a big nice link both on modxcms.com and forum

    Let’s do business !

Set up a date for the Charters members program :

    o Upon Tattoo’s / MODx 1.0 release ?
o Draft a paper of “What ?” and “How much ?”

    Module/plugins/snippets sponsoring

o Sponsor program ? The idea would be to give an incentive for people who’d sponsor development, such as give them a discount on the Charter’s program or something (throwing ideas here)

    Commercial Support

o Check do-ability : let’s do a first head count of would-be support team (with an estimate availability)
    o Set a launch date
o Write up a draft of a MODx commercial support contract

    Hosting service

    o When ?
    o Mimick TextDrive’s VC MOdel ? ( http://forum.textpattern.com/viewtopic.php?id=1827 )

    Fund raising

o Benchmark Chris Messina’s funding for Drupal
    o Other examples ?
o Set up Fund Raising initiatives ?
