Personally, I think that responding to these kinds of insults publicly only makes us appear defensive and maybe somewhat immature to people who don’t know the full story.

I suggest letting the Eto people do whatever stupid nonsense they do and let them stew in their jealousy as every new release of ModX comes out. And maybe have a good time watching their heads explode when Tattoo is public

I couldn’t possibly agree more. I get it that it hurts. I was a brutally die-hard Etomite user since it was "PhaseCMS". Ryan in particular knows of inner conflict I battled with deciding to leave my "Eto family" to come to MODx. The bottom line is that it’s [MODx] just a more robust project led by a team of people with true vision. I think anyone who is looking for a solution and objectively compares the two will arrive at the same conclusion... without defending the past. And I’m not interested in trying to persuade those who are NOT objective. What’s the point?

In life, you gravitate toward whatever you’re focused on. Personally I endorse what Susan and Raymond have said, that if our focus remains keen on pushing the MODx limits and making stellar software, we need not worry about the nay sayers.

I agree. I think that the rate of development between the two projects since the fork is evidence that we’re really lapping Etomite. I mean how much can you really get done with one Developer. Web 2.0 is coming and as far as I can tell Etomite is doing nothing to jump on board. I expect we’ll see Etomite go the way of the *Nukes before long.

Also I’d bet that all the Nazi treatment we’re getting from the Eto forums is better for us in the long run than if there were open discussions going on. Controversy is really one of the best types of publicity.

Normally I respond to these sort of things by suggesting a side-by-side first-hand comparison via OpenSourceCMS.com but it seems that Eto is no longer there. Any idea why?

Security Issues ... Their server was compromised and the download file was replaced by someone who put in a back door... lol

Disagreed; I will attack lies and the lying liars that tell them as encountered. This was a very specific lie that had some very damaging potential to our project and I refuse (as long as I am an Etomite community member) to let such lies be circulated uncontested if I can help it. Besides, I got some additional Etomite converts in the process and lots of private contact from newbies asking about the fork. Mission accomplished!
