A new CMS that MODx might want to get some inspiration on!

We recently install a new CMS call phpComasy as one of the new demo and I play with it a little and found out a few things:
. It has the frontend manager that MODx can take into consideration when do the manager redesigning.
. It has many management function right on the frontpage once you login as admin
. It has many of the feature that MODx has but with the GUI interface.
. It use file system template
. It has many tag like MODx
. It is very lightweight
. It can extended via module
. It has very powerful file manager very like MODx.

It is a very impressive little package!

PS: The only flaw that I found with this package that I do not run well on Window machine.

Yeah chanh, I had spotted it since I roam opensourcecms many times a week... It’s young but definitely promising Feature wise, not in the same class as MODx. I’d rather compare it to CMS Made Simple. There no concept of custom variables (at least from the quick tour I did...). There are few tags at the time, I’d have to check but modules are not called through tags (it’s something I like about CMS Made Simple, Textpattern and MODx tags : call plugin/snippets through tags & parameters, allow for granular control of the placement of elements in the page).

The way everything is managed from the frontend is nice (so is the clean and simple GUI), though you’d have to wonder about security... One thing I noticed is the multilingual content handled natively (for modules content too) : nice !

I hope they manage to create a community around this software (look at BitWeaver, so promising when I discovered it back @ the TikiPro days : it never took off and it hurts its chances...), it might have a room in a crowded "market" but it’s not a done deal, with CMS Made Simple on this segment it will have to differentiate. I don’t know if the frontend management will cut it... time will tell !

Honestly, it is very similar to MODx system, perhaps they are inspired from Etomite or our beloved MODx...

I like its Upload ZIP archive and extract function, I know we have in MODx too but in there its displayed to user in clear form, and it has Multi-Language system built-in I think its easy to use (though I never did any Multi-Language site before).

BUT where the heck is templating system ? lol

The template is in the folder call template and upload via ftp.

I think what Zi meant was about not having the abitily to edit template through admin... maybe it’s possible via the file manager ?
