What is "Foundation"?

I am not sure where to put this and I don’t want to put outside so I decide to stick it here.

What is "Foundation"?
I notice Ryan, Xwisdom and OpenGeek are foundation. Is that mean you guys are the founding members? or is it mean more?

Will the "founcation" be expand to be more of a marketing purpose for MODx where if some business entity wants to contribute to MODx project via some people resources or funding resources and become a foundation members?
Or will some individual’s contribute to certain level to the project then they will become "foundation" members?

This is just some idea on "marketing" oportunity!

Foundation is indeed the earliest founding members. Kinda like a steering committee, so to speak.

In other words, we have the last say.
