Marketing 2006 : IM Conference

Hi everybody,

Now that the holidays are over, let’s get down to work ! Following up on my previous thread Marketing Plans for 2006, I’d like to set up an IM conference sometime this week or next week to discuss Marketing for 2006.

This idea came up since edge and wendy seem to have interresting ideas about marketing and can’t access this forum. Ryan then offered to participate, and Zi joined in.

Let’s sum things up :

When
* this week or next week, time to be fefined, especially considering timezone differences

Who
* Ryan
* Zi
* Wendy
* Edge
* Myself
(who else ? And also : in your experience, what is the max number of participants to remain efficient ? If we are too numerous, we could split the conference in parts)

What
* Discuss marketing plans for 2006 : promoting MODx, draft influencers, handle rebranding...etc
(add whatever you see fit to the list)

How
* Everyone is running different IM clients I guess : which one should we pick that has good features for conferencing purposes ?

I’m available almost any time. I’d like to keep it to under 10 folks and use Skype, since it seems to be the most cross-platform friendly, and we could try out voice chat if we wanted... that’d be interesting.

OK, I am a little late on scheduling the conference, but here I am : how about doing this on wednesday (January 25th) or thursday (January 26th) ?

I don’t know how many timezones we have between the US (between GMT-6 and GMT-9 if I recall) and Pakistan (GMT+ 5), I am right in the middle with GMT+1.

That would mean we could try to do this around 15.00 GMT, would that be OK ?

I’ll PM everyone concerned to have them check in on the Marketing Plans for 2006 thread before the conference.

Definitely interested however lot’s depends on how fast I can get my taxes done

Another thing we talked about with Zi yesterday : we’d like to stick to Instant Messaging rather than voice because :

1) Zi has a 7-15kbps internet connection. It would be a shame not to have him around for this.

2) While I can write decent english and follow a head to head conversation, I lack some pratice to do a phone conference (yeah, reading lips is helpful when not in you mothertongue).

3) Not that I am lazy but I have a lousy auditive memory and it’ll be easier if we are so numerous to have the IM conference text saved to a file to make a clean report of everyhting said or decided.

What’s your input on this ?
For those who don’t know, Skype has an IM conference feature (though I never used it so far).

If you did not already, might be a good idea to dl&install it and create an account. Those who have hidden emails should either unmask it or add the others to his contact list so that we can invite everyone into the conference.

I have modified the date of the IM conference to next week, since some people were unavailable on such short notice. I guess this will give Carsten the time to finish his taxes

That would make it January 25th (wednesday) or January 26th (thursday) @15.00 (3.00 pm).

Is that GMT?

I wanted to use the "base" reference, e.g GMT+0, London time

That’s 15-6 = 9am in Texas
15+5 = 8 pm in Pakistan

I thought it could fit everyone’s schedule, if you have another idea...

for me its ok, 8:00 PM evening ! ( GMT +5 )
