edit snippet or chunk currently in use in my site

My problem is that if suppose my site( made on modx) is published and now I want to edit my snippet or a chunk..wouldn’t that alter my published site. How can I edit a snippet or a chunk in use?

Make an unpublished ’test’ resource. Duplicate your chunk/snippet, and work with the duplicate on the test resource until you’re happy with it.

You can also make up a local development environment on your local computer (XAMPP or MAMP or WAMP; there are a number of easy-to-install web environments to suit any need or experience level) and duplicate the whole site locally for working with.
