Manager Redesign

All,

I’m hard at work in Eclipse and Photoshop redesigning the manager backend. Problem is, I forgot to ask if there was any particular color scheme I was supposed to go with or not

Also, how major of an overhaul should I give this thing? I’ve heard rumblings about a new manager core...which would make a major revision almost moot if it were in the pipeline soon. Also, I am strongly considering dumping alot of the Invision like gradients because they are pointless if the CSS were implemented properly.

I’d say a reskin and simple code restructuring as needed in the existing framework would definitely be appropriate. I don’t reallly expect the major overhaul to be done in the extremely near future. I’m fond of blues/grays/oranges, but that’s just my personal preference. If I were going to point to a couple of site I really like for palette and design inspiration, they’d have to include http://www.shauninman.com/plete/ , http://www.subtraction.com/ , http://9rules.com/ , http://www.thebignoob.com/ , and http://sinelogic.com/ .

While we’re talking about a minor revision to the manager, it seems to me that a minor reorganization of the menus might be in order. How about something like the general organization at the manager redesign comp found at http://vertexworks.com/tat/index3.html ?

I don’t see a problem with that. When I reupload, you can take a gander for approval.

The one thing that seriously still bugs me about the manager is the PMs. Does anyone seriously use this function in the manager? It seems most sites may have chat/forums/email/AIM Names, etc. already...why add yet another way?

Of course, this is just me.

Any other requests while I am at it? Should I just convert everything to frameless and be done with it?

I think the PMs will become valuable once simple workflows get implmented, and for error messaging as well. But that’s for fun down the road. Looking forward to seeing what you come up with!
