Fixes for @INHERIT in Ditto, Wayfinder ... in Evo 1.0?

I posted a fix to the Ditto bugtracker some time in 2008 to fix this issue:

and recently Dave Child has resurrected it and incorporated the same idea into Wayfinder, see his recent post:

These aren’t fully tested by any means, and I know testing scenarios with these snippets could get quite complicated.

My question is, do these seem like issues worth following up to incorporate into Evolution 1.0? What’s the process for these areas of the codebase, since they’re "owned" so to speak by active maintainers - the snippets’ support thread?

I’m not sure what happened to Mark (Ditto’s creator) as he’s not been around for more than a year and I can’t reach him. I think as long as there aren’t major performance implications it’d make a lot of sense to incorporate the updates.
