I see that Class key is editable on the Page Settings panel.

Do we really want people to be able to edit this that easily (or at all?).

Just to see what would happen, I borked my home page (and maybe the site) by changing it on a document far down in the tree. I changed it to modSnippet and saved the Doc -- now I have something called () for my home page and it has the Content Fields from Doc I changed the Class Key on.

It’s a debate - sometimes it’s needed for changing the resource to a delegate type that doesn’t need a custom manager page. (i.e., like modJSONRPCResource, which doesn’t need a custom page, whereas modStaticResource does.)

The general opinion is that we’re going to remove it before beta; however, it’s still up in the air. We might be able to leave it, but with a sanity check to make sure the class specified derives from modResource.

You could also just gray it out with a System Setting to make it editable. It’s nice to see it there as a reminder of the class name but I hate to have it on a site where naive users might edit it.

I’d rather see this type of information in an area that normal end users indeed don’t see. Definitely super handy during alpha and development; maybe a debug mode?
