Turn off snippet/chunk/placeholder processing

Is there a way we can easily turn off snippet/chunk/placeholder parsing for use in custom front-end applications. This would be similar to how QE handles loading them into the textarea. Thanks!

I’m thinking if you were to write a plugin to find them and replace them with their html entities then the parser wouldn’t pick them up.
