Update posted in the first message. I’ve uploaded version 0.2, which adds resource browser integration into the Insert Image and Insert Link dialog boxes. Also, in regards to the size of the plugin files themselves...I’ve deleted all unused plugins but the total size of Xinha is still about 1.5 megs. Why? Take a look at the InsertSmiley plugin. The smiley gifs alone take up a little over 900KB with 580 gif files total! That’s alot of smileys! Should we cut this down to size? Perhaps we can just use the smiley set from FCK or TinyMCE.

      Hi Jeff

I think for FCK we need to drop the MSN smiley and remove some from the other set. Then you can copy those changes into TinyMCE and Xinha.

I agree. I’ll play around with some of the smileys from all the editors and see which ones are the best to use. Hopefully, all of them can be used across all editors. smiley

I have a suggestion regarding different version of editors. Instead of tweaking them is it possible to the plugin or snippet to work with the can editor install from the respective editor so that when the users want to get the latest version from the project site they can just drop it into the respective folder then Modx will just pick up and run.

The benefit would be the size of Modx will not bloat due to different version of editor and smiley and users will have more flexibilty and Modx don’t have to be tweak so much on each new version of the editors.

          What do you think?

          Thanks

Just a quick note to those interested in the Xinha plugin. I’ll be releasing a 0.3 update once I’ve tested and debugged some issues with the latest Xinha build. Once I release this update, it’ll probably be the last for a while. The reason is that while working on the Xinha plugin I’ve noticed that things are getting a little nutty with each subsequent Xinha build. The most recent build has an issue where buttons just seem to disappear when using the editor in Internet Explorer...not good! Plus, while trying to prep the editor for use with a richtext widget, it has become apparent to me that there is no easy way to create a custom button set specifically for front-end users...thus it’s safe to say that using Xinha as a front-end editor probably isn’t a good idea. In a nutshell, until we actually see an official, stable 1.0 release of Xinha, I’m likely not going to continue to maintain the plugin and will instead concentrate on the two current, stable RTE plugins, FCKEditor and TinyMCE. In the case of Xinha, I’m thinking about replacing it with AreaEdit, a more stable and simplified fork off of HTMLArea. I’m also going to be working on a Spaw Editor plugin as well pretty soon.
