Ok, I normally run my laptop at 127.0.0.1 -- why does modx insist on using my computer’s name?

Carsten, I think this must be some kind of config setting in your web server, because I run 127.0.0.1 or localhost all the time and MODx does nothing to change the URL

That’s an OS X config as you’re aware, and it’s probably due to the Friendly URL .htaccess file I’d guess. Turn that off and hide the htaccess file and I bet it works just fine.
