Some new Template definitiions

Actually, I don't agree. I view templates as that, an abstraction of how something should be presented, not the actual data itself. I equate that to a stylesheet in MS Word. Update your stylesheet and the formatting of your document changes.

Ryan, in pure developer terms, I agree with you; everything I develop should be raw markup with no layout, and the stylesheet should handle all the layout and the content styling. However, in practical terms for the majority of my user base, being XHTML and CSS challenged, I love the FCKEditor's new templating capability. In fact, I'm rebuilding an online store with it right now, and plan on using FCK's templates for providing ready-made layouts for individual product pages. This way, my customer can simply select the template to use for the page content and then prepare the page content by simply filling out the TV form for the document. And he can choose from several alternate layouts for each product page.

In this case these templates should be seen as a mold. Once the mixture is poured it takes the shape of the mold. If you should later modify the mold you will not be able to alter the shape of the already formed objects.

IMO, if CT are going to cause confusion with the existing template system then we should not integrate it into the system as a template but just leave it as a FCK feature and allow developers to add there own FCK content templates or layouts.
