It is best if you already have a database created for this. The database user you gave the script may not have enough permissions on the database to create new databases. If you don't know how to create a database, then you need to learn how to deal with that first. Are you working with a mass hosting site, or on your own server?

I'm working on my machine and I used the root user to create the database. Even if I did try using a user without the proper permissions, shouldn't we have some error messaging to handle this?

it should work fine if you are using the root user; I did this on two WinXP test servers and got it running fine in both Apache 1.x and 2.x -- perhaps their was a temporary resource issue regarding your db instance and it just lost communication during this step? I've gotten the error message when using the incorrect user information, or using users with no permissions, so we do have the error messages in there... :wink:

On the technology preview release, yes. On the private stuff in here, no.

Installed the new version, ran through some new templates, snippets, documents, etc, everything works great! worked up the Getting Started .doc file as an .html file and added it to the assets/docs folder, made the reference to the Getting Started tutorial on the default home page document a link, zipped it back up and it's on the download site.

Susan, can you please toss up a URL with the changes you made and .zip them up and send them to me to get into SVN. I'm working on getting the definitive login instructions now from the guys as CVSdude.com, but will go ahead and commit that stuff to the main trunk repository.
