Sir, I will build this forever. I feel like I’m one of those Japanese game developers who never stop polishing up their games (GT5 where are you). It’s not ready! But I’m going to harvest your opinions now when it’s still "not released".
This is
the project of mine. Which I started to build with Joomla! then Drupal, Wordpress, Frog, Symphony, Wolf and finally Modx (the first photoshops of this were pink:D). I think I first put something together in 2008 (with Joomla!) and found Modx in the end of 2009. Started to build the site with Evolution in 2010. Was done in a month. Then I migrated it to Revolution and have made small modifications to it during the span of a few months. Developing with Modx has been really easy compared to the rest. Only reason why someone should select something else over Modx is the a tad too complicated back end - you know for the people who are there to only write content (not code). But what am I to complain as you could modify the back end to be lookin’ whatever you want. I hid the menus and only show the document trees, but it’s still pretty intimidating to some.
Add-ons:
formit
getfeed
getpage
getresources
googlesitemap
If
phpthumbfilter (can be found somewhere from the forum)
simplesearch
taglister
wayfinder
Other:
Disqus
jQuery
I still have to translate some stuff. Mainly search and tags, but couldn’t get the custom tpls to work at the time when I worked with them (have updated the add ons since but haven’t tried again). Load times could be less, but the server isn’t a huge beast so... I have made the pages smaller in size and added some jQuery/AJAX stuff (which messes up the Disqus count script, but oh well) to cut down the page load times. Front page probably still averages to 6-8s (which from about 3.5-4s is the HTML content). I have tested the site with the lates version of Firefox, Safari, Chrome and Opera. Don’t even have IE 8 on my computer at the moment because I downloaded the beta for 9. It doesn’t work 100% on the IE 9 beta

Should check how bad it is for IE 8 also, but I suspect it’s usable. It mostly validates for XHTML, but the tweet button gives a warning on some pages. CSS isn’t valid as I’ve used CSS3. It also needs more content so that the sidebars aren’t too long compared to the main content and so that the getPage navigations would appear.
I basically learned CSS/HTML during this project so I’m really happy with the outcome. In near future I also have to change the send button, find a poll add on/script and fix typos.
If the site is down when you try to access it it’s probably because I’m working on something
I’d also like to thank everyone who’ve answered to my question and helped me to debug my numerous problems on the forum and on IRC!
HTML looks pretty bad and I’m going to fix it, but it will get messy again as long as it’s in my control.
If there was something else I will edit it in.
(published one lorem ipsum for ya so that the "arvostelut" [reviews] section had something in it)
Cheers!
