    Of course not! But...

Our two old dogs passed away and after a few months intermission we got a Basenji puppy. After following through with many emails and family & friends requests for photos I decided to build a simple MODx site.

The site features a clean design, lots of photos, blog posts and videos. I added a jQuery menu and used Ditto to keep the content organized.

The feedback has been great so far. Its been all fun this time...

              No, that’s nice grin

              But Joker’s not a Basenji.

                Yes Dogs deserve a website!

                Lovely site. Great photos.

I wonder if the quotes and the callouts could have a higher line height there is lots of wonderful space and color and this look a little tight to me.

Thanks! Good eye there. Actually I am working on that and have created a couple of TV’s to fill out that area.

I had a lot of fun shooting the portrait in the top banner. I photographed Shaun against a chroma "blue screen" on our living room floor. That really made removing the background and dropping him onto the green gradient much easier. The "dog tags" in the top navigation I made with Photoshop. I then added some jQuery to each dog tag to provide the animation. I usually build just one nav-sprite image for all active and roll over states for the navigation graphic links. This was done a little differently. It took quite a bit of trial and error setting the correct heights on the rollover positioning.

I love clean simple looking sites. This particular site is very simple but there is quite a bit of MODx and CSS work going on in the background...

I concur! The first thing I noticed is how great your photos are. I don’t know if that’s your hobby or if you have a great camera or what, but regardless, the photos all look straight out of a magazine. Quite slick!

Very cool dog, by the way. smiley He surely seems to deserve his own site.
I'm learning more about MODx all the time and loving it.

                      Thanks!

Building sites is a side thing for me. I used to be a photojournalist for years (newspapers and magazines) but I mainly do more commercial work now.

All of the photos were taken with a Canon digital SLR. Most were taken with a 40-year-old Minolta Rokkor 58/1.2 lens that I have carefully converted to the Canon EOS mount. This is a wonderful lens that delivers a really nice 3D look. The old Minolta lens mount has long since been orphaned. I removed the rear mount, ground down the old retaining ring and custom fitted a Pentax M42 screw mount to Canon EOS adapter. This now allows me to mount this great optic to my Canon cameras. This 1.2 lens is a very fast, heavy chunk of glass but its my favorite lens right now...
