    Hi Guys,

I’ve built my own site in Evo a couple of months ago (first project), it’s also in the showcase:

    http://www.digitaaldier.nl (Dutch only, sorry)

For a client I’ve built two websites (again, Dutch). Key was keeping the source tidy while getting launch-ready within 5 days (which worked out). Done in Revo.

    http://www.your-identity.info
    http://www.societyinbalance.nl

    Used Gallery, FormIt, Wayfinder smiley

Firefox "fixes" colours in .png images, which results to different shades of colour than intended. This is a problem when you are trying to achieve a certain colour and make the image blend in with the other content (as in your blog[-like] site). This function is turned on default from Firefox 3.5 and up. In your blog this is a problem. However, there is a solution. There are multiple programs which with you can remove certain profiles from your .png image. I myself use TweakPNG. Open the image in the program and delete these "chunks": iCCP, cHRM and sRGB (there might have been one more, but I have never needed to delete it so I can’t remember it, sry).

Just a few tweaks I would make to your blog:

I think your .date needs just a tiny bit of padding. "White space" makes your site look less crowded, as I think is the meaning here. I’d also, maybe, think of another font for your site as you do have great typography in your menu and in your titles for your blog post.

But I do sometimes feel that I am very alone with my opinions so these few lines before this one shouldn’t be taken too seriously. I love your beautiful CSS btw laugh

Thanks for the feedback, especially the color-issues. Weird thing is that in Firefox on my 2nd screen everything looks as I intended it, but in Chrome/Webkit on my second screen the purple looks really weird... I think it does indeed have something to do with colour-profiles... Will look into it during my next redesign (in progress, full redesign and rebuild in Revo). If you love this css, this is my latest project (currently in development): http://akto.nl/index2.php?id=1.

Your firefox issues are due to saving png files in Photoshop I suspect?

PS saves a colour profile by default, which various browsers all interpret differently. You need to go to some setting or other in Photoshop (sorry, I can’t remember the exact one) and tell it not to automatically save a colour profile.

Either that or do your PNG’s in a different software package. I have recently upgraded from Corel Draw 14 to 15 (although obviously still use Photoshop) and my PNG colour matching problems have gone away. For PNGs I just go straight from Corel Draw and I imagine their are many other progs. that also work fine. It’s also the first vector / pixel crossover program that I am aware of? I could be wrong?

Getting to view your vectors and line them up to a pixel grid (no aliasing!) is simply an awesome feature. Check it out. Saves me hours of cleaning up aliasing.

Yeah, I use Photoshop. I have never tried to go further into the settings though. With .jpg files you get the option to not save it with sRGB profile, but when saving as a .png you don’t get any options.

I had Illustrator before, but I "updated" my computer and lost it. Haven’t bothered to get it since. To be honest I kind of miss it, but in the end what’s the joy? I have to save the images in png or jpg anyway. The beautiful vector is deemed to become a bitmap based graphic. But I don’t deny the advantage of resizing and that you can still look the images yourself or share them somewhere. Me, the marquee tool and the delete button have managed it for now.
