    Hi, I have been developing a site for our church in ModX. This is my first try at using ModX. Any suggestions or comments are greatly appreciated.

    Thank you.

      Overall this looks good! Congrats!

      I’m guessing you’re going to fix the image dimensions on the front page... it looks stretched.

      On your contact page, I’d recommend using the Hiveware Enkoder to encrypt your email addresses so they don’t get picked up by spammers/harvesters:
      http://hivelogic.com/enkoder
      this applies to the email address in the footer as well.

      On that page you may also want to avoid spacing the contact #’s so widely... it looks like you have 2 line breaks when you could probably use just one for easier reading.

      More importantly, it looks like your CAPTCHA code isn’t being generated correctly. This is often due to the web server not having the correct PHP libraries installed (GD and FreeType).

      Lesser things: you probably don’t need to pop a new window when someone clicks on the masstimes.org or "School Website" links... personally, I find that sort of window popping to be obnoxious because people know how to use the back button or open links in a new tab without you doing it for them.

      You have a broken link for your privacy policy. Looks like maybe you put in something like

      href="http://www.saintmonicaconverse.net/[~54~]"

      Instead of

      href="[~54~]"

        Everett,
        Thank you so much for your great suggestions. I will be implementing them this weekend. Still working my way around ModX but it seems to be working well for what we want to accomplish with the site.

          Nice looking and easy-to-read site. Good job! I can’t really find any major things to critique, other than what Everett found. I tend to focus on design and aesthetics more than other things.

          There are some small stylistic changes I might make if it were me. You could consider putting a border between the left-side nav and the main like you did on the right, or perhaps even make the right-side a slightly different color.

          The main body seems a bit small and could be expanded by reducing the 15px; margins on the right and left side columns to give the main body a little more room to breathe.

          Perhaps some of your headings could be bigger? Like the one that says "Welcome from Padre Dennis".

          Maybe place the picture of the church closer to the top (above the fold), just for presentations sake.

          All these are just personal preferences really. The site looks really professional as it is!
