Hey guys, here’s my first site built using MODx (or any other CMS for that matter!):

    www.draindoctorbirmingham.com

I know the design is a little shaky, but I was extremely limited in terms of artistic freedom. My client knew exactly what he wanted and what he didn’t want. Your feedback would be very welcome.

Was a bit of a struggle getting that drop down menu to behave cross-browser but got there in the end.

As a side-note: I’d also like to know how I can implement a sharing box with all sorts of links to share each page (Facebook, Email, Stumbleupon, Digg etc..). Are there snippets available that I can use?

Cheers guys and thanks to the creators of MODx for providing such an innovative and community-driven CMS!

I’d say it looks very smart The design suits the marketplace it’s in and gets the relevant information across quickly.

Quibble: was it the client that insisted on "24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year"? One or other set of days is superfluous! wink. And a typo in same para: "waitng around!"

Thanks for the positive feedback! The client specified simple and clean and I think I managed to give them that.

Yeah they have full control of all content, so that was them, it would be cheeky of me to change that but I’ll get onto fixing that typo for them! Cheers for the heads-up!

Don’t want to rain on your parade as far as the menu being cross browser compliant but...
In Firefox 3.6 on a Mac see attached!

No worries, bunk. It’s due to the navigation bar being a fixed width - another design constraint. I’ll get onto that.

Nice work Peanuts. Cool to see Twitter integration.

Are your drop down menus using Wayfinder? If so, how did you get the drop downs to be wider than the main menu fields? I could not find that variable in the modxmenu.css.
